The Hotel E is one of the original structures of Jefferson’s historic academical village. It is on the south end of the West Range, next to Garrett Hall and the Ampitheater. The Garden Room is on the first floor of Hotel E. Here is a link with more information and a map of the location.

PARKING: There is no available event parking at the Club. We recommend using the Central Grounds Garage at the University Bookstore on Emmet Street, which is a short walk away, or coordinating other arrangements through the UVA Department of Parking and Transportation at (434) 924-7231. Please contact the Club office if you have any special needs.

Overview
The medical community must be kept at the center of medicine. Through year-round advocacy, physicians can work together to effectively engage in collaborative efforts that apply leadership skills and principles to address health care challenges facing legislation. Physicians will learn how to use these principles to advocate strategically and support effective policies.

Objectives

Review current legislation impacting the practice of medicine in Virginia and highlight specific tactics that helped pass or avert key issues facing the practice of medicine.

Describe MSV’s role in advocacy and policy.

Describe/discuss the advocacy process within the Medical Society of Virginia.

Explain strategies for effective advocacy and opportunities for involvement.

Identify areas for collaborative teamwork, leadership, and action needed to advance quality health care throughout Virginia among the physician community.
